DESCRIPTION:The Iowa Certified Construction Site Pollution Prevention Inspector (ICCSPPI) training is an affordable\, efficient certification opportunity for construction site inspectors who are responsible for weekly construction site or quarterly MS-4 inspections. \nProgram Topics:\n• Erosion process\, soils and basic hydrology\n• General Permit #2 regulatory requirements\n• On-site required documents\n• Best management practices for erosion\, sediment\, velocity control\, and good housekeeping\n• Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans (SWPPPs)\n• Site inspection procedures\n• Issues an inspector may face \nCertification Process:\nAttend ICCSPPI training\, pass the written exam and sign the Code of Ethics to become certified. Those that are certified are recognized statewide for their credentials to conduct pollution prevention inspections at construction sites. Learn about the impacts of salt and recommendations aimed at reducing stormwater pollution. Get recommendations for crafting contracts that meet deicing objectives and client needs for safe conditions. \nHow Salt and Deicers Work\nPavement temperatures\, weather\, and the chemical makeup of various commercial salts and deicer liquids play a role in the success of using salt for deicing. A quick lesson on the basics of salt can go a long way in knowing when and how much salt to apply. \nDry and Liquid Salt Storage and Handling\nTraining experts will teach applicators about best management practices for storing and transfer of salt and liquid deicers such as secondary containment and recommended loading/unloading procedures. \nEquipment\, Calibration\, and Application Rates\nFrom augers to hand spreaders\, the equipment for salt application is diverse.
