DESCRIPTION:About This Training\nThe Iowa Certified SWPPP Designer course trains professionals who prepare\, review\, and approve Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plans for construction sites. This full-day training combines regulatory requirements\, technical design principles\, and hands-on exercises so you leave with skills you can apply immediately. \nThe training includes two hands-on exercises where you’ll practice BMP placement on site maps and review SWPPP narratives. All sessions run from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and will be recorded for later viewing. \nOctober 8 – Climate Change\, Rainfall Statistics\, and Stormwater Infrastructure in the Midwest\nDr. Daniel Wright\, University of Wisconsin-Madison\, researches extreme rainfall and floods and co-authored the 5th National Climate Assessment. He will cover what shifting rainfall statistics mean for stormwater infrastructure in the Midwest. \nNovember 5 – Iowa Creek Stream Restoration: Construction Experiences and Performance During July’s Flooding Event\nNoel Steckelberg\, PE\, is a civil engineer with the City of Ames specializing in stream restoration and stabilization design. He will walk through construction of the Iowa Creek project and how it performed during this July’s flooding. \nDecember 10 – Moving Beyond Plastic: Sustainable Erosion Control Alternatives\nDr. Jaime Schussler\, Oklahoma State University\, researches erosion and sediment control for construction\, urban\, agricultural\, and reclamation sites.
